February 20, 2020 Update -Our Traffic Patterns will be changing again soon! Our construction crews have been busy making many improvements to the Downtown area. The City would like to sincerely thank you for your patience and we have some more good news!

Repairs are nearly complete on 7th Street, and soon asphalt will be laid. As soon as the roadway is re-paved, we will have 7th Street open. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, this should be completed before the end of the month.

The Next phase of construction includes directional boring and installation of some water mains will occur at intersections along Pasco Avenue at 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Streets, beginning February 24. Our crews will need to keep a portion of these intersections closed (or restricted access) during construction and while we await testing results from Florida's Department of Environmental Protection. At this time, it is anticipated that eastbound Pasco between 5th and 6th Streets will be temporarily closed. This process can take up to thirty days to complete.

Please be aware that traffic patterns will change in February for the Downtown Area.

7th Street between Church and Pasco Avenues will be closed for about a month, with detours being on 8th and 6th Streets. On-street parking on adjacent side streets will still be available, as well as public parking areas as marked below.

Q: How long will 7th Street be closed?
A: The City anticipates the closure to last about a month.

Q: Where can I park? 
A: In addition to the on-street parking surrounding the downtown area and the public lots on 8th Street, we have been granted permission from both Bank of America and San Antonio Credit Union to use these lots as a public parking area (just off of Church Avenue). 

Q: How can I get to the businesses?
A: The sidewalks will remain open, as will the on-street parking on abutting side streets and the parking areas in the attached map. Please call the business directly in advance if you need to make any special accommodations. 

Q: Where will the construction equipment and materials be stored? 
A: City Administration was able to keep Pasco Avenue open to two-way traffic with the installation of the pavement. To maintain the initial coat of pavement being laid in the last half of January, equipment and materials will be stored on 7th Street in the construction area.

Q: Why can’t the contractors work in half of the road on 7th Street and keep the road open? 
A: They can, but on-street parking was going to be closed during the construction of the stormwater improvements on 7th Street and traffic would be shifted. The equipment and materials would be staged on Pasco Avenue and traffic would become a flagged construction site when moving equipment and materials to and from the area for the safety of our residents and the workers. This solution would also take more time to complete the improvements. Closing 7th Street provides the safest and most efficient way to complete the project.
