The Dade City Police Department has one K-9 Team, consisting of an officer and a German Shepherd, This Team is dedicated to patrol and narcotics work. Together, their duties include tracking wanted or missing persons, conducting building searches, and drug searches in structures and vehicles. This officer also provides backup to the patrol shifts, conducting traffic and narcotics enforcement and handling calls for service.
Our K-9 unit and handler is available to assist other agencies in the greater Tampa Bay area, on or off-duty, when there is a need for a dog. They are frequently requested by the public for demonstrations and participate in several community events throughout the year.
