The Division is comprised of four patrol shifts, each led by a Patrol Sergeant. Patrol operations run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, maintaining a highly visible presence throughout the city.
Officers conduct patrols using marked and unmarked vehicles, as well as bicycle and foot patrol, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the community.
The dedicated men and women of the Uniform Patrol Division are highly trained and responsible for responding to all calls for service, including life-threatening emergencies and major crimes. The Division embraces a proactive, community-oriented approach focused on preserving peace and protecting life and property.
Personnel perform a wide range of duties, including:
- Responding to calls for service
- Proactive patrol and crime prevention
- Criminal investigations
- Law enforcement and apprehension of offenders
- Community policing initiatives
- Traffic enforcement and crash investigations
- Providing medical first response
The Uniform Patrol Division remains committed to enhancing the quality of life for the citizens, business owners, and visitors of Dade City.
Patrol Sergeants
The Department is staffed by four Patrol Sergeants, each responsible for supervising a patrol shift consisting of two to three officers, depending on staffing levels.
Sergeants conduct shift briefings (“read-off”) at the start of each tour of duty, providing updates on criminal activity, operational priorities, training, and administrative matters. They also respond to calls for service when needed.
All Patrol Sergeants are State of Florida-certified instructors in both general and high-liability topics. They conduct in-service training for their assigned personnel, as well as annual training for the Department and other agencies upon request.
Police Officers
The Uniform Patrol Division is staffed by both full-time and part-time police officers who work 12-hour shifts with rotating days off. Part-time officers supplement staffing as needed.
Police officers are responsible for:
- Responding to all calls for service
- Investigating misdemeanor and preliminary felony cases
- Enforcing city ordinances and state laws
- Conducting traffic enforcement and crash investigations
- Protecting life and property
As the most visible representatives of the Department, officers provide a strong deterrent to crime and maintain a presence at community events throughout the year.
