City Departments
BUILDING DIVISION
The Building Division is responsible for the issuance of building permits, enforcement of building codes, coordination of inspections, maintaining permit data, and contractor licensing. CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE The City Manager is authorized by the City Charter to act as the chief administrative officer of the City. In this capacity the City Manager is responsible for supervising all departments and divisions of the City, with the exception of the City Clerk/Finance Officer and the City Attorney who report directly to the City Commission. Additional responsibilities include: preparing and submitting the annual budget, overseeing the City's personnel system (encompassing Human Resources, Risk Management, and Employee Benefits), and acting as the Purchasing Agent for the City. The City Growth Administrator also reports directly to the City Manager. CITY CLERK/FINANCE The City Clerk/Finance department has various responsibilities that are prescribed by the City Charter and various ordinances. The City Clerk/Finance department provides direct services to citizens, businesses, and other governmental units as well as support services for other City departments. CODE ENFORCEMENT DIVISION
PLANNING/ZONING
The Planning office is responsible for current planning (zoning issues), long range planning (Comprehensive Plan) and Community Development Block Grant coordination. The Community Development Director serves as the staff for the Planning Board, Board of Adjustment and Redevelopment Advisory Committee. POLICE DEPARTMENT The Dade City Police Department is made up of four (4) divisions: Administration, Services, and Communications. Responsibilities include: detection and prevention of criminal activity and the arrest and apprehension of criminals. Provide radio dispatch service to the Police Department, and to Public Works during after hours operations. Provide ongoing training to all employees; recruit, train and retain qualified applicants. Perform community based programs throughout the community in an effort to educate the citizens on the prevention of crime. Provide 24 hour per day patrol and dispatch service. Investigate reported criminal activity. PUBLIC UTILITIES This division operates and maintains seven (7) public drinking water supply wells and two (2) ground storage facilities and ensures compliance with all the Interim Primary Drinking Water Standards and Environmental Regulations. This division's function is also to monitor/maintain and provide the necessary repairs to our water distribution system and wastewater collection facilities. PUBLIC WORKS Provide safe and adequate work sites to all City employees, through preventative and corrective maintenance. RECREATION Information regarding recreation facilities in Dade City. |
