                                                                                     PART-TIME CROSSING GUARD

 

POSTING:  09/01/2010 – 09/09/2010                                                           Pay Grade:  105                    

Pay Rate:  $8.53 Hr                                                                                      FLSA:  NON-EXEMPT

 

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:  As a part-time position, there will be no fringe benefits.

 

This is a critical position which provides safety to school age children when crossing streets during school hours. Scheduled hours coincide with public school operating hours.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

The following duties are normal for this position.  The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.  Other duties may be required and assigned.

 

-          Assist children in crossing the street during assigned hours. 

-          This position requires attendance of in-service training for school crossing guards. 

-          Ability show proficiency in the required duties upon completion of the training

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

-          Knowledge of safety procedures of pedestrians and vehicles.

-          Ability to command attention of motorists and children

-          To communicate orally and effectively with the public.

-          Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license upon employment. 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Have a combination of training and prior experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform all assigned tasks essential to this position.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

 

Work performance is reviewed by the Police Captain for adherence to instruction and conformance with the established standards of the position.

 

ADA COMPLIANCE:

Physical Ability:  Tasks require the ability to stand for extended periods of time.  Must have the ability to walk, stoop, kneel and bend.           

Sensory Requirements:  Tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals.  Required to have the ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

 

Environmental Factors:  Essential functions are regularly performed outside with exposure to all types of environmental conditions.
